As I travel through northwestern Alberta and watch the last of the crops be harvested, a sowing and reaping analogy occurred to me. Sowing seeds of inuendo and intimidation propagates instability which produces fear. The more people are afraid, the easier it is to corral them into a heightened state of mob mentality, making them easier to control. It is a psyop, and far too many Albertans are falling for it, again.
It comes as no surprise that politicians and bureaucrats benefit from the way things are. My own MP has jumped on the ‘anti-separatist’ bandwagon now, too. It matters not that the status quo does nothing to benefit the people. It is never about the people. It is always about the politicians and bureaucrats. And we are seeing in real time the tactics they are using to try and maintain power and control.
Newspapers across the country are rolling out article after article about what could happen should Albertans vote Option 2 on Question 10. The articles contain information filled with inuendo and intimidation that propagate instability. Playing on emotion and the fact that most people fear change, right on cue, the divisive mob mentality rises up and anger is spewed everywhere. Why people continue to fall for this time and time again remains a mystery. It is very sad to watch, actually.
What isn’t a mystery is how the Independence Movement has risen to the heights seen today. Put simply, psyops tend not to work on critical thinkers. Most within this movement have no problem questioning information rather than taking it for face value. Those of us who are truly in it to win it also have no problem questioning each other and, for most of us, no offense is taken for doing so. Because we seek out and push for facts, use common sense to parse through the information, and have no problem challenging the status quo as we go, solid information is now ripe for the taking. Those for whom the system works are losing their ever-loving minds. And that’s their problem, not ours.
In these last two weeks of the campaign, the fake news brigade is going to come out swinging harder than ever before. The inuendo and intimidation will be off the charts. Which suggests support for Option 2 on Question 10 is higher than being reported. How high? No one really knows. What we do know, is this referendum is going to need all hands on deck to ensure it is too big to rig.
