Yes, let's talk about it.
While at a friend’s house one day, we noticed a book on the living room shelf called ‘The Joy of Sex’. Around 8 or 9 years old at the time, we had a rudimentary idea of what sex was. We also fully understood this was an ‘adult book’. Acutely aware of the fact we were not adults, natural childhood curiosity won over and we took a look anyway.
Fast forward a bit to my teen years, in the late 80’s early 90’s, so many of the songs we listened to were about sex. Songs I didn’t even know were about sex turned out to be about sex. Sneaky lyricists.
Many moons have gone by since and I never again saw that book on any bookshelf, but every so often I do hear Salt n Pepa’s ‘Lets talk about sex’ playing in my head. If you are around my age, it may now be playing in yours as well and is perhaps a sign that we need to have ‘the talk’ again. This time as adults and this time to protect our children.
Last week I learned about a book found in the children’s section of our local public library called “Let’s talk about it”. Talk about what? Well, the subtitle says ‘The teens guide to sex, relationships, and being a human’. It’s a graphic novel that covers, or rather uncovers, a lot. Unlike the sneaky lyricists of our youth, the author does not shy away from explicit language and illustrations. Concerned parents do want to ‘talk about it’ but not for the same reasons the author had in mind.
Parents are taking these books from the children and teen section of our libraries to read aloud publicly in both school and municipal council meetings. Before getting through the first page teachers, Principals, and elected officials alike are literally squirming in their seats. In many cases, security is called to escort the parent out. Perhaps you’ve seen the videos on social media even though they don’t like talking about it.
Parents in Manitoba tried to talk about it. One parent even showed it could be against the law to have these books in the library on the grounds of its content. Librarians argued that removal would be denying free speech. Unless the conversation was in favor of keeping these books on the shelves, those responsible for putting them there did not want to talk about it. Another interesting story from Saskatchewan involved Planned Parenthood and their ‘sex education’ curriculum. Unhappy parents went and talked about it with the principal. Then the provincial government had to step in to suspend the presentations. The people at Planned Parenthood took exception with this and were quite upset at being told they can’t talk about it anymore. Parents now have the option to opt their kids out of any future sex ed class, which they should have had to begin with anyway, which seemed to upset the folks at Planned Parenthood even further.

There are a ton of red flags here so let’s talk this through pragmatically and see if there aren’t some dots that need connecting.
First and foremost, these kids are not being taught ‘sex ed’. These books, along with the supplementary teaching material, are being used by adults in a classroom to teach our children what to do and how to do it. Literally and graphically. This is not the ‘The Joy of Sex’ book I came across as a child. These are hugely perverted books with content nowhere near any scale of age appropriateness on account it is undeniably child porn. Which makes the real adults in the room rightfully see red in anger and disgust so yes, lets talk about it.
The role Planned Parenthood plays in this is both frightening and disturbing, so let’s talk about that for a minute as well.
Anyone who pays attention knows Planned Parenthood is not about helping any woman anywhere plan for parenthood. So why do they want a lead role teaching ‘sex education’ in schools? Let’s talk this through.
The folks at Planned Parenthood encourage these kids to have sex knowing some will get pregnant. It’s simple biology and statistics. That young girl has already been introduced to Planned Parenthood through school because, well, they are the ones who taught her how to have sex to begin with. Because she’s familiar with the organization there’s a comfort level there. This makes it easier to go to them for ‘help’ with a ‘plan’ now that she’s in ‘trouble’. Of course, the plan they offer is an abortion and don’t worry, Mom and Dad don’t need to know. They may also suggest to her that a great way to not get pregnant again is by becoming a boy. Here are some pills to get started with and, don’t worry, Mom and Dad don’t need to know about that either.
Absurd? Yes, but almost everything these days is, which is exactly why we need to keep this conversation going. Adults are exploiting children’s natural curiosity about sex and humanity. As a result, we’ve become frighteningly dissolute as a society. Follow the money, and I’m willing to bet the truth gets darker still.
The verse ‘It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than he should offend one of these little ones,’ comes to mind. If parents, politicians, and the medical community choose to remain complicit with something this illicit, history shows it won’t end well. So, yes, let’s talk about it.
