There are a number of reasons to leave confederation. Here are just 10.
There are a number of reasons to leave confederation. Here are just 10:
1. Scandals, just in recent memory and in no particular order
- Arrivecan
- Wrongful use of the Emergencies Act
- CERB payments, CRA employees defrauding the system
- The National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg
- Election interference
- SNC Lavalin (x2)
- WE
- RCMP investigation interference
- Repeated overspending on trips abroad
- Repeated problems with Ethics Commissioners
- Hunka in Parliament
- And don’t forget the $8million barn at Trudeau’s residence
Collectively, these scandals have cost Canadians billions upon billions of dollars and an inordinate amount of embarrassment on the world stage. And don’t forget all the money that’s gone out in ‘foreign aid’.
We have a federal debt level of $1.218 trillion (with a T).
It goes up $4.577million an hour. Every sixty minutes.
Your share is $30,786 and growing. For comparison, ten years ago your share was $16,000. And you wonder why your tax burden has gone up.
To see these numbers in real time, go to debtclock.ca where there is also good news. You’ll see both Alberta’s and Saskatchewan’s clocks going backward. That needs to continue until it gets to zero.
2. Bills, the other kind
- Bill C-36 Online Harms Act
- Bill C-367 claims to end religious exemptions to hate speech
- Bill C-18 Online News Act
- Bill C-7 MAID
- Bill C-11 Online Streaming Act
- Bill C-4 banning conversion therapy
These are just a handful of recent bills, all of which have been pushed in various ways for a while with very serious implications. All of them basically ban personal freedom one way or another and create very slippery slopes.
3. Unelected foreign entities
- WHO
- UN and affiliates
- WEF
- COP 28
- World Governments Summit
The same players attend every meeting. There is nothing positive to be found for Albertans within any of these organizations or their respective affiliates, agendas, agreements, and treaties. In fact, once you dig into the details, the damage is outrageous. Unfortunately, as a province, there is only so much we can do to insulate ourselves from the harm our federal government signs us up for. To make matters worse, the federal government has circumvented provincial authority and convinced various Municipalities and First Nations to sign agreements that only look good on the surface.
4. More agendas, agreements and acronyms
- DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion)
- SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity)
- ESG (Equity, Social, Governance score)
- CRT (Critical Race Theory)
All of which are used only to confuse, control, and divide with an end game to destroy. Clever marketing and financial incentives provided fertile ground for this nonsense to propagate and grow. The good news is, its fruits are starting to bloom and ripen helping more people realize the hidden agenda behind it all.
5. Tax regimes
- Carbon Tax and Net Zero
- GST
- Personal Income Tax (provincial and federal)
- Corporate Income Tax (provincial and federal)
- Excise tax on beer, wine, spirits, tobacco, fuel, etc
- CPP
- EI
- Capital gains
- Equalization
Canadians pay a lot of tax. Up to 45% of our income goes to government. Supposedly it’s to provide services but there is no real evidence of that. Remember the debt levels in point 1. What there is evidence of is Albertans footing the bill for many other provinces and paying for billions of dollars in scandals.
6. Supreme Court
Supreme Court judges are appointed. Many have become advocate judges. This isn’t good. Supreme Court Judge Wagner was acting Governor General while voting on the Carbon Tax challenge from Alberta. That was not right and he should have recused himself. Add to that, we have learned that in some cases, their ruling isn’t binding. The carbon tax and emergencies act rulings are two examples. Which begs the question, what’s the point of making a ruling?
7. Senate
Appointed by the Prime Minister rather than elected by the people. Our current Prime Minister is now responsible for appointing 75% of the Senate. The Senate is needed to pass bill into law. Do you really think having a Conservative government is going to matter now?
8. Uni-party System
Covid taught us a lot of things, not the least of which is we have a uni-party system. We know this because every MP voted in favor of every piece of legislation that thwarted our rights and freedoms.
9. Immigration
The Multicultural Act that Trudeau Senior put in place was the foundation. Junior coming along decades later declaring there is no core Canadian identity and we are a ‘post national country’ was the next step. Now, we’re living with the repercussions. There is nothing inherently wrong with immigration. If people from other countries want to come here to create a better life and future for themselves and their family, all the power to them. But it needs to be done properly. Today, this is not the case.
As of late we’ve seen a surging number of protests by immigrants. Nobody here cares if they want to peacefully protest, but when they don’t, they aren’t held accountable for their actions. Recently one protestor threatened to put a police officer ‘six feet in the ground’ and just kept walking. This week, when a young lady hit a police officer, a mob prevented the police from being able to respond appropriately. It’s only going to get worse.
Even more frightening, our federal government has no idea how many people are here illegally, who they are, where they are from, or where they are now. Remember the footage from Roxham Road? Some would accuse me of a ‘hate crime’ just for typing these words (see Bill C-36). But think about it. Would you ever allow a handful of strangers to just walk into your house and make it their home? I didn’t think so.
10. Provinces will never be seen as equals, especially with equalization
Over the last two years, Alberta has been starting to stand up to Ottawa which is good and the response from Ottawa is where the real story is found. They don’t like being told to stay in their lane. Here are just three examples.
There is an appetite to have our own police force for which there are many good reasons. Rather than discuss options or try and find out why would we want our own police force, Ottawa continues to spend tons of our cash on add campaigns saying we ‘need’ the RCMP.
The pension plan is a real sore spot for the Federal Government. Many of us recognize the futility of the CPP and want our own. Albertans predominantly fund it. Rather than admit and appreciate that, the federal government has resorted to threats and smear campaigns using our tax dollars. Again, not helpful.
The Carbon Tax and Net Zero is another bone of contention for both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Taxing us to death won’t change the weather. Cap and trade directly affects our provincial economy for the worst. And the threat to tax cow farts is just plain stupid. Rather than come to the table for an adult discussion, our provincial leaders have been called names and told to sit down.
The equalization formula is probably the greatest example of unfairness within confederation there is. All the taxes we pay to keep the country propped up, yet many provinces, and the country for that matter, are basically insolvent. Again, please see the Canada Debt Clock. Because western votes have no sway in the House of Commons, we’re ignored. Even when a conservative government is in power.
It can’t be stated strong enough, Confederation is more than just an albatross around out neck, it’s a noose. There’s still time to
